In this task, we made a capsule that can protect an egg.
First, we made a design of it considering about the amount of material, strengths and size.
My group decided to make a pyramid-shaped capsule, since it will protect the egg no matter which side the egg falls on. We decided to put the egg in a cup which has sponge in it, to protect the egg.

These are our design from top, bottom and sides. We tried to cover all the sides with soft materials such as sponges and packaging peanuts, to reduce shocks to prevent the egg to crack. To make the triangular shape, we decided to use plastic straws. We got the inspiration from our researches and decided the best materials we can use, while considering about the size, weight and aesthetics. We tries to cover all of these, by using light materials such as plastic straws. We also tried to make our design as big as possible to increase air resistance to slow down its speed. At the end, we also added some balloons since we thought they could create some drag but I am not sure if it affected the result, since we did not use helium gas for it.

This is what our design looked like. We had to change some parts of the design since we could not get the materials that we wanted to use. Therefore, it did not work as well as we expected. When we finally dropped it, the capsule was not broken at all but the egg inside cracked. Therefore, we decided to improve our design. WE found out that the egg cracked since it got too much shock, which means that the middle capsule was way too close to the ground. Therefore, we extended the straws (stuck few new ones) and avoided the direct contact contact with the ground. Our new plan worked very well, and we managed to protect the egg.
