Stop motion animation

In this unit, we tried to create a stop motion animation by creating sets, characters and lightings.

First, we created a story. We wanted to make a heartwarming story, so we decided to make a cat character for the story. Then, we designed characters. We decided to make the characters colorful and cute to match it with the story.

This is our character design. After this, we made a story board which shows the story line of the animation.

This is our story board. We used technology to export this picture to the laptop, and put draft audios on it to create an animatic.

After completing the story board and the animatic, we moved on to making the characters. We took around 2 weeks to create all the characters. First, we were planning to use wools and felts to create characters, but we had to change materials and some of the set designs since our working environment changed due to covid.

After making all the sets and characters, we moved on to the shooting process. I took over 400 pictures to make the animation for my part, and it took around 4 hours to shoot. While shooting this, I had to move my characters and change their facial expression without breaking the set, which was one of the biggest difficulty of our whole project.

Finally, we moved on to the editing process. We put many different audio and sound effects to make the video look more alive and fun. We also put a snow filter to make it look like it is snowing in the animation.

This is our final video.

I personally enjoyed this task since I love making animations and editing. I am very happy how our final video has turned out, and I hope that many people enjoy it.
